This 3 hour training (presented by Holly Forman-Patel) will equip participants with practical skills to effectively navigate stalled reprocessing in EMDR Therapy.
Participants will learn how to recognize when processing is truly stuck versus productively slowing, and how stalled reprocessing fits within the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model and the standard eight-phase protocol. Clinicians will discover how to thoughtfully apply cognitive interweaves targeting responsibility/defectiveness, safety/vulnerability, and power/control themes to restore forward movement in sessions.
Attendees will also learn how to make clear clinical decisions about when to continue standard reprocessing, when to shift to ancillary targets, and when to pause EMDR to return to stabilization. Through clinical examples and applied strategies, this course strengthens therapists’ confidence in restarting blocked processing while maintaining fidelity to the model and client safety.
